The Housing Ombudsman has published reports on another batch of decisions.  The most recent decisions include cases relating to:

  • L&Q – a maladministration finding in respect of the landlord’s handling of a shared owner’s request for information to enable her to complete the sale of her property, including information on the building’s cladding.  The Ombudsman ordered the landlord to review its position on reverse starircasing in exceptional circumstances and L&Q has subsequently introduced an appropriate policy
  • Peabody – a case concerning the level of compensation the landlord offered a resident, following their complaint about its handling of a leak, where the Ombudsman used its mediation process to resolve the dispute and
  • Birmingham City Council – maladministration was not found as the landlord had taken appropriate steps to identify the repairs it was responsible for and arranged works. However, a finding of service failure was made as the landlord’s final response on the complaint was not comprehensive and it had not kept records of its repair actions.
