Regulator of Social Housing consults on revised Consumer Standards

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published its consultation on revised Consumer Standards.  The consultation follows Royal Assent being given to the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023.

The RSH is consulting on four draft Consumer Standards:

  • The Safety and Quality Standard
  • The Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard
  • The Neighbourhood and Community Standard and
  • The Tenancy Standard.

The RSH anticipates that the final set of Consumer Standards will apply from April 2024.

The Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023 gives the RSH the power to issue a Code of Practice in relation to the Consumer Standards, to amplify the Standards and assist registered providers in understanding how they might achieve compliance with them. As part of this consultation exercise, the RSH is seeking views on a draft Code of Practice.

The consultation closes on 17 October 2023.
