Yvonne Davies
Yvonne’s expertise is working to achieve great resident involvement, community empowerment, board and customer governance, resident scrutiny, tenant engagement and reviewing equality, diversity and inclusion.
Yvonne is a former Housing Association Managing Director, with over 35 years’ experience of working in Housing and Communities.
Prior to becoming a consultant in 2011, Yvonne was formerly Head of Housing and Economic Development at the Audit Commission for 5 years.
Yvonne runs our scrutiny and resident involvement network for engagement staff, which meets approx. 6 -8 weekly to discuss and share latest thinking on consumer regulation and share best practice. She runs our tenant involvement unconferences
Twice a year, she creates a national conferences on resident engagement (summer) and tenant panels (winter), to bring the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Govt, Regulators and Best Practice speakers to a live audience of tenants and staff.
Yvonne undertakes board governance reviews, regulatory compliance assessments, equality and diversity assessments, facilitates Board, Charity and Tenant awaydays, supports capacity and confidence building, delivers skills assessments and training, 360-degree assessments and appraisals for Board and customer groups, reviews customer insight and data, develops community groups into housing associations and investigates complaints in a critical friend role, and much more!
She is proud to complete projects with the Housing Association Charitable Trust and Centre for Public Scrutiny, where she jointly authored 3 best practice publications on Tenant Scrutiny.
Yvonne facilitates the programme for Board Excellence in Governance and the Board Diversity Programme for the Housing Diversity Network.
Yvonne is a Board Member of 2 community based HAs – Cobalt Housing and Steve Biko HA.
Yvonne is the Former Company Secretary of a leasehold development at Liverpool Marina, a Women into Construction company and Blackburn House Social Enterprise Board.
She loves to work hard and play hard, she enjoys watching welsh rugby, travel and lots and lots and lots of socialising.
Mick Warner
Mick’s expertise is in governance, finance, risk, assurance and regulatory compliance.
Mick worked at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and its predecessor organisations for over 20 years, until he left in December 2020, to become a consultant at YDC. At RSH Mick conducted various roles over the years including being the national lead at different times for regulatory operations and financial regulation policy.
More recently Mick led the transfer of the RSH from the former Homes and Communities Agency and the creation of the standalone regulator. Mick subsequently set up and led the RSH’s Finance and Corporate Services Team, when his responsibilities included finance, digital, human resources, risk management, liaison with MHCLG on financial matters and supporting the RSH’s Board and Audit and Risk Committee.
Before becoming a regulator, Mick worked in private practice as an external auditor and accountant, with a portfolio of housing associations, charities and credit unions.
Mick is a Board Member at One Manchester which owns and manages more than 12,000 homes in central, south and east Manchester. He is a former Board Member of Forever Manchester, Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside and Voluntary Sector North West.
Mick enjoys walking, reading and watching football. He has a keen interest in history and is currently completing a History MA with the Open University.
Emma Wilson
Emma is a housing professional with over 25 years’ experience in the sector and is passionate about providing brilliant services to customers.
Prior to joining YDC she was Executive Director – Neighbourhoods at New Charter Group/Jigsaw Homes for a number of years with responsibility for the transformation of neighbourhood management, customer services, resident involvement, estates services and independent living. She has developed a high level of senior management experience.
Prior to joining New Charter, Emma worked for several stock transfer organisations, leading on delivering the commitments made to customers. She has most recently held interim management roles for a large Midlands based Housing Association as Director of Retirement and Supported Living and as Executive Director Customer Services for a Housing Association in North Hertfordshire.
She has a track record of delivering large change programmes, working across diverse service areas, managing multiple projects and governance. She is a qualified coach and has supported a number of senior executives to achieve their aspirations.
Emma specialises in Regulatory Compliance, Consumer Standards, Customer Service and project/interim management and governance.
