The Government has announced that councils across England will receive £203 million to tackle rough sleeping and support people living on the streets. It is anticipated that the funding will provide 14,500 bed spaces and 2,700 support staff.
The Greater London Authority is to receive £21.7 million. Other councils (which are a mixture of London boroughs, coastal areas and large conurbations) to receive in excess of £2 million are:
- Westminster – £5.3 million
- Bristol – £4.7 million
- Cornwall – £3.5 million
- Manchester – £3.5 million
- Brighton and Hove – £3.3 million
- Southwark – £3.3 million
- Islington – £3.0 million
- Camden – £2.7 million
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole – £2.5 million
- Salford – £2.4 million
- Ealing – £2.4 million
- Hastings – £2.3 million
- Hillingdon – £2.3 million
- Newham – £2.2 million
- Greater Manchester – £2.2 million and
- Nottingham £2.1 million.
